The history of France plays a leading role in the legend of French style. The country is not lacking in emblematic figures who revolutionised the decorative arts. For Blandine Mandin, who has a great store of knowledge about and professional experience with Old Master drawing, painting and sculpture, French chic is about creating ambiance by giving meaning to different objects. On her stand, shoppers will feel as if they are at home, having coffee in a handsome 1950s service by ceramist André Stocker in a space lit by a Napoleon III lamp.

20th-century decorative arts from Caroline de Marco

Caroline de Marco’s stand offers a good example of the 20th-century arts to be found at the Foire de Chatou. This young woman, who receives customers only by appointment in her home in Montfort l’Amaury, mixes works by French designers Roger Landault, André Simard and Pierre Guariche with beautiful figurative paintings by such 1950s artists as Roger Bezombes, Pierre Lesieur and Michel Patrix.
